Goodbye, Junkmail Hello Trees!

Last week, Greendimes.com changed to Tonic Mailstopper.  I just had to sign up today. If I get one more piece of junk mail from Vonage, I’ll go mad! WE HAVE NO HIGH-SPEED INTERNET IN OUR AREA. It’s just not available to us here. I’ve explained this to Vonage and the rep asked me what I would like for her to do. I let her know to pass the word on to Marketing, so we can stop being bombarded with junk mail.
To use the Vonage service, I’d first have to get high-speed internet, which meand I’d have to buy one of the satellite-based services and deal with their fair-access use policies and cut down a beautiful old tree to make way for the new dish. No way, it’s not gonna happen.

Green Grooming for your Pets

Here are some ways you can care for your pets the green way and without the use of deadly chemicals found in most pet products for flea control.
I have read many horror stories of people who’s pets have suffered, even died due to toxins in flea shampoo, collars, and topical medications. Check out this site, for instance. It’s horrifying!

Zorbeez Logo
Oh my gosh, it looks like using these will save SO much as far as paper towels go. They are reusable, machine washable and very absorbent! Seems like this is a much better alternative to paper towels.

Scavengers

I’m so thankful for scavengers who scour through dump sites to pick out what they can use or refurbish so that it doesn’t end up in a landfill where it will sit for all eternity. I’m glad that there are people out there with that mindset and the knowlege and ability to be able to give a new life to discarded items, to help cut down on pollution.

Phone Book Shredding

During a recent motorcycle trip, I witnessed yellow pages from the freshly-delivered phone books strewn all along the roadway thanks to the blades of roadside lawnmowers. Now (A) the people won’t receive their phonebooks, (B) there’s a mess to clean up, and (C) pages from the books may fly into the roadway and land on windshields of passing cars, obscuring their visibility. This is an issue, and one that needs a good solution.

Paving Way for WHAT?!

WOW! Check out THIS ARTICLE. Pay special attention to the computer-generated picture (artist’s conception) about halfway through the story and the paragraph just above it.

This project looks to be horribly disruptive to the environment!

NAFTA Superhighway Raises Environmental Concerns

Numerous concerns of environmental damage have arisen because of the North American Free Trade Act and its plans to build a massive superhighway which will slash through our nation’s heartland. It appears that many habitats will be obliterated, not just for animal life but for humans as well. My sympathies are with you if you live in the path of this monster. Call your Congressman.

Under the Guise of Environmental Protection

Some bills are attempting to pass which supposedly protect wildlife areas, but it would actually only protect the “wildlife” which will use that area to gain easy entry into the USA. Read the full story here. Also, here’s a site which depicts the mountains of trash that are left behind by those entering the US illegally. (scroll to the bottom to view the slide shows)
