NAFTA Superhighway Raises Environmental Concerns

Numerous concerns of environmental damage have arisen because of the North American Free Trade Act and its plans to build a massive superhighway which will slash through our nation’s heartland. It appears that many habitats will be obliterated, not just for animal life but for humans as well. My sympathies are with you if you live in the path of this monster. Call your Congressman.

Under the Guise of Environmental Protection

Some bills are attempting to pass which supposedly protect wildlife areas, but it would actually only protect the “wildlife” which will use that area to gain easy entry into the USA. Read the full story here. Also, here’s a site which depicts the mountains of trash that are left behind by those entering the US illegally. (scroll to the bottom to view the slide shows)

Recycle Old Sony Products

Your old Sony gear can be turned in for recycling, even things as ancient as their old portable tape players, I’m told. You can even TRADE IN old Sony gear for the latest Sony merchandise.

Toiling Over Toilets

What with it being summer and many areas of the country being bone-dry, I wanted to mention that Toilets are a HUGE water-waster. If you can, invest in one of the low-flow water-efficient models. If this is not possible, place a glass jar, plastic bag or plastic jug filled with water in the tank to reduce water usage. Don’t use a brick as they will crumble and clog the pipes. Be sure to check the operation of the toilet after you modify the tank this way to ensure proper function.

Check out this fun link for more information on toilets.
