Soap Solution

When you have pieces of soap that are too small to use while bathing or showering, don’t throw them out. You can collect them all into a container and once you have a good amount, put them in your blender with some water and blend it down to a liquid consistency, then you can use it as a body wash.

You can also slice a sponge with a knife and insert the small pieces of soap into the opening in the sponge.

Gardening and Exercise All in One

Push this thing around to mow your lawn without using a gas-powered lawnmower which contributes to the pollution (and noise) problem. An added benefit is that you’ll get some exercise while you’re mowing. Growing up, my family owned one that was very cumbersome to use, but they have come a long way since then and they are much nicer now.

Earth Day is April 22nd

Personally, I think EVERY DAY should be Earth Day. Let’s rename the yearly event Earth Awareness Day or something. Nonetheless, please check out the Earthday Network page to find local events, learn how you can help and see what others have done/are doing to help protect our precious environment. There’s even a Pledge where you can let the Network know that you’ll be switching out your old, inefficient lightbulbs for the earth-friendly compact fluorescent kind. I have recently completed this task at my house and I look forward to my lower energy bills.

Martin Strel Completes Amazon Swim

This guy just completed a swim of the Amazon River. He dedicated the 66-day swim to preservation of the Rainforest. Martin braved pirhanas and all the other creepy crawlies that call the river their home. Now he’s suffering the effects from it. The site is updated frequently, go and have a look.

Ed Begley, Jr. Lives Green

If you haven’t seen the show Living With Ed on HGTV, you simply must watch it. Ed rocks as far as living green. He’s got the solar panels on the roof, the hybrid cars, and the whole recycling routine. Check out the show and the website to see what I mean. I just wish his wife Rachelle wouldn’t get so annoyed about the situation, but I guess without some conflict, the show wouldn’t be as great as it is.
